About Our School
Welcome to KARATE ACADEMY OXFORD
We teach karate to children, teenagers and adults across Oxford, from complete beginners taking their first steps onto the mat to experienced students working towards advanced grades.
For us, good karate is about more than learning techniques. Children learn to listen, concentrate, work with others, take responsibility and keep going when something is difficult. They make friends, become more independent and, somewhere along the way, learn some pretty good karate too. 🥋
Our classes are structured but friendly, with plenty of individual attention and room for students to progress at their own pace. Some come once a week, others train several times. As students grow in confidence and ability, they can move between classes, train with different groups and take on new challenges.
Parents, teenagers and adults train with us too. Whether you are returning to martial arts after many years or have never thrown a punch in your life, there is a place to start.
Our Classes
Karate for children and families
Children can start with us from around four years old.
Our Prep classes introduce younger children to karate through short, structured activities designed for their age and attention span. They learn the basics of movement, coordination and karate technique, but also how to listen, follow instructions, work with a partner and become comfortable training independently.
As children get older and more experienced, the training grows with them. Beginner and Main classes introduce more technical work, combinations, kata and partner exercises, while Advanced classes give experienced students greater challenge and responsibility.
We also welcome teenagers, adults and families. Parents can even train alongside their children, although you may discover that your child learns faster than you do. 😄
You don’t need any previous experience to start. Come and try a class, meet us and see where you fit.
